Empathize

This was a full redesign, not a new build. The existing site had real problems on both the technical and product side: it was unstable and hard to maintain, and critically, artists and event planners had no way to transact directly. Every connection had to be routed through Feaster’s own team, which made the process tedious for users and for Feaster alike. On top of that, the design didn’t speak to the young, artistic audience the platform was trying to attract.

Two distinct user groups needed serving, with different goals:

  • Artists, who need exposure and a credible way to get booked
  • Event planners, who need a fast way to find, compare, and secure talent across a wide range of categories (DJs, MCs, singers, musicians, dancers, photographers, videographers, clowns, and more)

Problem statement

Quebec artists need a credible platform to showcase their work and get booked directly, while event planners need a fast way to filter, compare, and secure talent, without funneling every step through Feaster’s own team.

This meant solving two problems at once: a transactional gap (no way to request or compare pricing directly) and a positioning gap (a site that didn’t reflect the audience it was meant to attract).

Design problem

How do you build two clearly differentiated but connected experiences, one for artists, one for event planners, inside a single platform, each with its own value proposition, while giving Feaster tools to keep content and community growing without constant manual effort.

Create dedicated pages for artists and for event planners with tailored offers and actions.

Strucutre page content with clear benefit sections.

Make use of testimonials for social proof.

Ideate

Research wasn’t limited to the client’s business knowledge. We ran sessions with both sides before locking any features: with artists, to understand what they want to put forward and how they’d structure a quote; with event planners, to understand where they look first for talent and what criteria they filter by.

Key decisions and reasoning:

Dedicated offer pages for artists and for event planners, instead of one generic marketing page. Two very different audiences ask different questions, so each side gets tailored benefits and calls to action.

Quote functionality, letting event planners request and compare availability and pricing directly from artists. This addresses the core structural gap from Define: removing Feaster as the middleman for every transaction.

Filterable artist database. With artist categories spanning DJs, MCs, singers, musicians, dancers, photographers, videographers, and more, a flat list wouldn’t scale. Filtering was necessary from day one.

Podcast, giving artists a way to tell their story and giving Feaster a consistent content engine.
Monthly spotlight. Every new artist who signs up gets featured, guaranteeing early visibility for new members and a built-in content cadence for the platform.

Considered and dropped: a premium plan where Feaster would act as an artist’s agent. Dropped because Feaster didn’t have the credibility to represent artists in that capacity. Shipping it risked undercutting trust with both sides rather than building it.
